HISTORY
An unnumbered memorandum issued by the Honorable Secretary Jesli A. Lapus to Regional Director Dr. Carolino B. Mordeno dated January 17, 2008 authorized the establishment of an interim city schools division of the City of Bogo conformably to Section 49 of Republic Act 9390. The creation marks another big achievement in the northern part of Cebu, Philippines, whose area of jurisdiction covers all the 22 public elementary schools of the 2 districts within the city, 9 public secondary schools, and 7 private schools.
The challenge is great with the limited resources but the overwhelming accomplishments are made possible because of the full cooperation and support of all school heads and teachers initiated by the visionary leadership of the division personnel led by the Schools Division Superintendent.
The task of achieving quality education is a shared commitment requiring a genuine learning partnership between all facets of the schools and the community of the Department of Education, Division of City of Bogo.
The collaborative efforts and the combined dimensions of school-based management like school leadership, internal and external stakeholders, school improvement process, school based resources notably contribute to the sustainability of the programs and projects of the DepEd Bogo in its quest of attaining quality basic Education For All (EFA).
As the year 2008 ended, the task of appraising and evaluating our accomplishment is in order so that every member of the system would be fully aware of its success or failure in the interventions adopted to improve the performance of the Division of City of Bogo.
Though a small interim division, the Division of City of Bogo has undoubtedly achieved the following:
• Improved its Mean Percentage Score in some subject areas as shown in the data presented; • Increased the number of classrooms through the school building programs of DepEd, Cebu Provincial Government and the City Government of Bogo; • Strengthened relationships with various stakeholders to support the many programs and projects implemented in the division.
